A couple of weeks ago, AT&T grabbed a bunch of headlines when it re-introduced an unlimited data plan that has limited availability. Today, following Verizon’s quarterly earnings call, the company’s CFO Fran “ShamWow” Shammo was asked by CNET if they planned to bring back their own unlimited data offering. Shammo wasted no breath in saying, “At this point, we are not going to entertain unlimited.”
Not even going to entertain it!
After posting better than expected Q4 numbers, I can’t say I blame Verizon for sticking with what’s (clearly) working at this point. During a year where T-Mobile, Sprint, and even AT&T to some extent, took swing after swing at Big Red with promotion after promotion, Verizon still managed to add customers and post solid numbers.
Maybe network is the most important thing after all, even if access to it does come with a hefty cost?
