Mexico gets the Moto G “Turbo Edition” with a faster processor and higher screen resolution

Motorola today launched the Moto G in Mexico, and the company wanted to do something to spice things up for folks down in that region. They’re calling it the Turbo Edition, and it gets a couple of big upgrades over the original.

For starters, the 5-inch display is being bumped from 720p resolution up to 1080p. That might not sound like much up against all these UHD displays floating around, but it’s a pretty big deal for an affordable phone like the Moto G (and 1080p still looks fantastic at that screen size, to boot).

Motorola is also upping the ante on the chipset, with the Snapdragon 410 transforming into a Snapdragon 615, which has proven to be a pretty capable mid-range chipset. Here’s how the full list looks:

  • Stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
  • Dual Micro SIM slot
  • 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display + Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • 64-bit Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615
  • Adreno 405 GPU
  • 2GB LPDDR3 RAM
  • 16GB internal storage + microSD slot
  • Rear 13MP f/2.0 camera
  • Front 5MP f/2.2 camera
  • Connectivity – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 4G LTE/3G HSPA+
  • Others – IP67 Certification
  • 2470mAh battery + Motorola Turbo Power

The device is set to launch in Mexico November 13th and will be around $283. Not a bad deal for a rather capable device from a very reputable manufacturer. Unfortunately Motorola doesn’t seem to be planning to launch this thing anywhere else, so you may have to resort to importing if you want one.
