It has been exactly two years since we got married and signing our lives away (to each other). Finally, I am dragging my heavy ass to blog about our beautiful wedding. We opted for a “garden style” wedding reception simply because we love outdoors and it feels more casual and fun. It has to be a small and intimate event as we want to mingle with every single one of our guests. We DIY-ed for most of the wedding decorations because we have thrown in a lot of money into the venue. Nonetheless, we had a lot of fun and I’m so glad that everyone enjoyed the night as much as we do!

Venue Decoration:

We painted chalkboard paint on a piece of scrap wood and turn it into a “sign board”. My sister’s beautiful calligraphy skill is put into good skill here.

The tissue pom poms in different shades of purple is also DIY-ed. You just need to get crepe papers (in any colour in accordance to your theme) from any stationary shops, youtube for a DIY tutorial and there you have it – pom pom balls to add pops of colour and interesting textures to the overall ambiance.

Fortunately, table setting and table runner is provided by the venue organiser.

We also had a little corner to showcase some of our polaroids and photo albums.

The “Just Married” bunting is a free printable we found online. Just cut them out, stick the wordings onto a string and hang it.

This picnic basket belongs to my sister haha!

These DIY wedding pinwheels are easy and adorable. We use them in table settings, decorations, photo booth and backdrop centrepiece.

I love how the candle lights and soft yellow lights illuminate our reception.

Table Place Cards:

The table place cards were printed online (for free)!

Again, we use pin wheels with vintage buttons as decoration. I bought those vintage buttons from old tailor shop in Ipoh.

Photo Booth:

Photobooth is another DIY affair. I love our cartoon-ish mascot.

Pinwheels in different shades of purple as the backdrop. Props were bought from taobao.

Solemnisation Table & Backdrop:

We chose to register our marriage on the same day. Hence, a JPN officer was invited to our wedding.

The solemnisation table and backdrop were also a joint DIY effort between us and my sisters.

Doilies are perfect for that romantic, vintage feel.

Dessert Table:

My sisters helped me out with the dessert table. They did such a great job!

The wedding cake and desserts came from Charles Home Bake.

I love how the cake turned out to be. Basically, I just told him my overall colour theme and he came out with this beautiful cake.

The rainbow cupcakes, macarons and strawberry shortcakes were so delicious too!

Guest Book:

We wanted a “guest book” for keep sake but it should not be too bulky!

So we opted for a personalised guest signing frames. This ‘Up’ inspired poster lets our guests write their messages and sign their names on the thumbprint ballons.

Door Gift:

This cute little bride door gift box is a gift from our friend in Taiwan. We place some coffee beans inside so that our guests can hang it in their car, bedroom or even toilet haha!

Getting Ready to Walk Down the Aisle

I bought some flowers from Petaling Street and DIY-ed my own bridal bouquet. I can’t remember why I did that, as I regretted shortly after. The bouquet looked so meh haha!

I was so nervous beforehand, I hate being the centre of attention. But luckily KampungBoy and I walked down the aisle together, so I just squeezed his hands real hard.

Solemnisation of Marriage

Not so nervous anymore, because my husband is so funny!

We also register our marriage on the same date, hence a JPN officer was invited to our wedding to officiate our marriage. It was such a pain in the a**, the process of getting a JPN officer out is tedious and we paid about RM 700 for that!

Exchange of Wedding Vows

I read our my wedding vows first, and I broke down while saying mine. Not just a few tears but almost uncontrollable crying, so embarassing haha!

Lex, I can still remember the first time we met and how your outrageous spiky hair and weird dressing sense caught my attention. When my housemate said that she needed a hammer, I volunteered to go next door and borrow one. I’m so glad that I did – because that was the day you moved in as my neighbour, entered my life as well as my heart.

Thanks for being the love of my life and my best friend for the past nine years, which includes enduring a long distance relationship for three years. Thank goodness for Skype and FaceTime we can fall asleep in the phone together. As they said, the real happy ending comes after a story with lots of ups and downs. Today is a beautiful day because I have the privilege of committing my life to you for the next ninety years.

Lex, in tradition, here are some of the promises I intend to keep as your wife:

I promise to walk hand-in-hand with you through life’s journeys. No matter what lies in our path, it will be our path, together.

I promise to respect you, to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard.

I can’t promise to fix all your problems but I can promise you won’t have to face them alone.

I promise to support and nurture any dreams and aspirations you will have.

I promise to laugh at your jokes more.

I promise to let you have the remote control every Monday and never criticized your TV show choice.

I promise to learn how to cook your favorite meals but you will have to do the dishes.

Lex, with every beat of my heart, I will love you, under any circumstances; happy or sad, rich or poor, through the sunshine and through the rain. This is my solemn vow.

Petal Toss & Bridal Bouquet Toss

My bridesmaids prepared these petal toss for us. I love how our guests showered us with petals while we walked down the aisle.

It is my turn to toss the bridal bouquet! Everyone looked so intense haha!

Wedding Speech:

Halfway throught the dinner, we also gave a short speech to thank everyone.

It is followed by a traditional cake cutting ceremony.

And of course, yam seng time.

Second March In:

We spent some time mingling around, before changing into our second outfit for the march in.

Bridesmaids Speeches:

Christine and Ivy whom I met through blogging 7-8 years ago are some of the sweetest and nicest girls around. So glad that we became BFFs as I really enjoy their companion. They wrote us a song and sang it with their beautiful voices.

These serial hugging pictures are too funny haha!

My high school BFFs Charlize sprinkled some rap into their wedding speeches! This five-minute wedding toast rap is nothing short of epic. I wish we had a videographer to document it!

The lyrics were too hilarious! Everyone at the wedding reception laughed like crazy, including me!

The Fantastic 4 Boy Band:

KampungBoy formed a boy band with his best friends. They sang kau ilhamku and it was really, really good!

Halfway through singing, he dragged me out to sing along but I can’t sing for hell! Haha!

Such good and sweet memories!

Sparklers Send Off:

I got the idea from pinterest obviosly. Who knows it is so difficult to get sparkles in KL?

Fortunately, my mum found them in a small shop from Ipoh. It makes for some pretty incredible photos and my guests were having a good time!

It was such a fun and casual wedding reception! Looking back at the photos brought smiles to my face
