Google has announced two Nexus devices last month, the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P. The LG Nexus 5X is a direct successor to the Nexus 5 which was announced back in 2013, and it’s the lower-end out of the two devices. The Nexus 5X is also more affordable than the Nexus 6P, and it is available for sale in ‘key markets’ starting today. You will also probably see tons of reviews throughout the day all over the internet, speaking of this device and how it performs. Well, I believe that quite a few of you are interested to see how well LG Nexus 5X performs in terms of battery, right? Well, read on.
Phone Arena compared the LG Nexus 5X with iPhone 6S, Galaxy S6, Huawei P8 and HTC One M9 devices. The source tested all of these devices under the same conditions, 200 nits brightness, and they ran a script which mimics typical smartphone use. Also, keep in mind that this test was performed with the screen always on. That being said, the Nexus 5X managed to get 6 hours and 25 minutes of screen on time before going to sleep, which is on par with the One M9. The iPhone 6S, Galaxy S6 and Huawei P8 managed to get better results than the Nexus 5X, but this is kind of an average battery life, and the vast majority of users won’t have any issues getting through the day.
Now, there’s one more thing that is quite important to consider here. As you all know, Google has introduced ‘Doze’ along with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, and that OS comes pre-installed on the Nexus 5X. Doze basically kills certain apps in the background while the phone is asleep (laying flat on a desk, for example), which means that the Nexus 5X should be quite good as far as battery life goes while the screen is off, which is quite important to overall battery performance. Phone Arena’s test doesn’t really test such performance, all you get is the screen on time performance, but Doze is definitely something to keep in mind. You can also check out the charging time of all the aforementioned devices in the gallery down below (spoiler, Nexus 5X is the fastest). That’s pretty much it stay tuned for more Nexus 5X coverage, including a full review of the device!
