Google Adds New Illustrations To Calendar In Multiple Languages

For many of us, our calendars just might be our lifeline, or at least one of them as some people may have many that they need to work consistently if they’re going to function like a well-oiled machine. To be sure though, the calendar is one of the most important tools anyone can have at their disposal. It holds all of your dates and information for upcoming events, birthdays, holidays, and just regular old days with important happenings. While the calendar must function properly and efficiently above all else, it doesn’t help that it looks good. Google has made this a focal point in Google Calendar with the update to a material design style UI some time ago, which now boasts plenty of colorful visuals and animations throughout.

Google isn’t just about making things look pretty though. They want their products to be available to many different types of people which is why Google Calendar like many of their apps support a fairly decent list of different languages, and in the most recent update to Google Calendar they’ve fitted it with some new animations for the banners inside of calendar entries that support 30 different languages in all. Now, when users open up calendar entries many will be able to see these new illustrations in their native language.

As for which 30 languages are supported, this includes English, of course, but Google doesn’t give an entire list of them. They do however, give off a few examples, including Dutch, Korean, Finnish, and Catalan. Just by watching the image though you can see English as a supported language which wasn’t listed, and what looks like Russian as well as Japanese, which would make for a total of 7 out of the 30 that Google mentions. The illustrations will pop up for various different types of events like haircuts, drinks, swim practice or just swimming in general, and Google also states that users will see these illustrations show up for things like Halloween parties and weddings too. In addition to the new illustrations Google has already added, they will be adding more in the future and they are enlisting the help of the users. Those interested in trying to get their ideas for an illustration on the board are asked by Google to snap a photo of an event they like, tweet it and include the hashtag #makethemost., The ones which Google likes the most will be added in at a later date.
