While HBO Now may have started on the Apple TV, it has now moved and expanded. Today, the company announced that it’s coming to Android devices as well as Amazon’s Kindle Fire line up. It’ll be making its way to Chromecast, Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick later this year as well. Which means you’ll be able to watch HBO Now on a slew of devices. Amazon is partnering up with HBO for this exciting announcement and allowing their customers to get a free 30-day trial to HBO Now, if they are not already HBO subscribers (whether it be in HBO Now or through your cable provider).
“If there’s one thing Fire TV and Fire tablet customers are telling us, it’s that they love to watch their favorite movies and TV shows. This is why the team is doubling down on adding great new movies and TV shows for Fire TV and Fire tablet customers—in less than five months we’ve added over 700 new channels, apps, and games to Amazon Fire TV, and over 300,000 apps are now available on Fire tablets,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Appstore. “HBO has produced some of the most groundbreaking and award-winning TV shows and movies, and we are excited to introduce HBO Now on Fire tablets and soon on Fire TV.”
What’s so great about HBO Now is that you have the freedom of getting HBO’s shows on any device you want, for the most part. And you aren’t subscribing through your cable provider like Comcast, Time Warner, Dish, AT&T or any of the others out there. So you can really just cut the cord, and watch HBO virtually anywhere. Which is a pretty big thing for HBO Now. Currently we don’t have any word on how many have already signed up, while it was exclusive to Apple’s App Store, we do know that the app became the highest grossing app for iPad and second highest-grossing app for iPhone. Which is a pretty big feat in this short amount of time.
You can subscribe to HBO Now for just $14.99 per month. A bit more pricey then Netflix, but many HBO subscribers would definitely tell you that it’s worth the price. So now you can catch up on watching Ballers’ starring Dwayne Johnson.
