Dancing speakers, rock partnerships, PlayStation Now & invisible Action Cam.

Sony made quite a noise this week, as the all singing, all dancing smart Bluetooth speaker launched in Japan. The speaker features voice recognition which means you can talk into the speaker’s ears to hear the tracks you want. Its little ears also pop out on either side, lighting up and moving up and down.

Wanting to create more than a passive electronic music device, the speaker also pulls out dance moves (although questionably limited) and functions as both an alarm clock and a weather man.

An exciting partnership was also in the headlines this week, as Sony Corporation and infamous rock band – Foo Fighters, partnered up to promote Hi-Res Audio across the globe. Working together, they will deliver quality High-Resolution Audio experiences to audiophiles worldwide.

Having sold over 20 million albums to date and sony-bsp60-640x428winning countless awards, the Foo Fighters are renowned for demonstrating extremely high standards in audio technology on their travels. The partnership comes just in time for the band celebrating the 20th anniversary of their much acclaimed 1995 debut album.

Elsewhere, Sony are letting gamers in Britain try out its ‘PlayStation Now’ game streaming service. This is part of an open beta trial and will let users stream PS3 games on a whole range of internet-connected devices, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, select Bravia TVs and Blu-ray players from Sony. Gamers can choose from a variety of titles, including Ultra Street Fighter IV, Dead Space 3 and Mirror’s Edge. The games are all hosted in the cloud, meaning all users have to do is log into their Entertainment account from a compatible device and their games and any saved progress will be instantly accessible. The service went down a treat in the US, since entering open beta late last years.

This week also saw Action Cam turn invisible in the latest episode within its ‘Never Before Seen’ series – ‘Invisible Man’.

The next adventurous video instalment saw YouTube sensation and Vine star, Zach King taking an unusual stroll through a school campus. By using the Action Cam, King created a visual trick that allows his fans to see right through him. He was inspired by live projection videos, using background images on a foreground surface.
