SUPER MARIO BROS IN TOKYO Did you know that it has been 30 years since the Super Mario Bros came to life? To celebrate this iconic video game franchise, Tower Records and Mario have collaborated to open up special limited edition cafes at three selected Tower Records stores around Tokyo. What’s good on the menu? How about Super Star Rice Omelette, Blooper’s Squid Ink Pasta, Bowser’s Taco Rice, Banana Bock Tiramisu, or Ground Stage Waffle? And then you can wash down your meal with a sinful drink of Mario Latte, Piranha Plant Soda, Underwater Stage Drink, or Bowser’s Castle Drink. The pop-up cafes will only be open from 22 June to 5 July, but if you’re still up for more animated culinary adventure, why not head to the Hello Kitty Restaurant in Hong Kong?

TAIWANESE FOOD WINS Which nation has the best food? According to a Facebook poll by CNN, Taiwan does! Crispy chicken, stinky tofu, beef noodle soup, milkfish, sweet potato, and the list goes on. There’s no shortage of yummy food when it comes to dining in Taiwan, as evidenced by our writer’s love affair with food in Taipei. Coming in at number two is the Philippines, known for their adobo (chicken or pork cooked in soy sauce and vinegar), lechon (roasted pig), and the mind-boggling balut (half-cooked duck embryo). Other countries that make up the list are Italy, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Greece and Vietnam.
