LIGHT UP THE LAKE This weekend, night owls will flock to Putrajaya’s waterways where large floats will cast their reflections on the city’s lake for the annual Magic of the Night. Expect colourful flotillas from the Malaysian states and dazzling fireworks at the Putrajaya Marina, from 5 to 11 pm, ongoing until 31 May 2015. Admission is free.
THE SQUARE BECOMES A KITCHEN Historic Dataran Merdeka in downtown Kuala Lumpur will become a sea of tents for the inaugural KL Big Kitchen, a festival for foodies that comes complete with sampling and competitions. Gourmets and gourmands are welcome to take their picks from a selection of street food, food trucks and fine dining daily until 31st May 2015, from 10am to 11pm.
LAKSA LOVERS, UNITE Thousands of laksa fans will descend on Langkawi this weekend for the Langkawi International Laksa Carnival. Taste different versions of the well-loved noodle dish, as well as the creations of chefs from China, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam at Laman Padi on Pantai Cenang. There will also be performances by street musicians and Malaysia’s Teh Tarik King, and appearances by celebrity chefs Farah Quinn, Papa Joe, Sherson Lian and Farouk Hussein.
