Thai Street Food @ Go Thai, SS2

As a reasonably frequent traveller to Thailand over many years, I have high expectations for Thai street food. Unfortunately many of the Thai offerings in KL are heavily focused on traditional dishes such as green curries, tom yam and other seafood dishes.

Hence, it is definitely music to my ears when I first heard about Go Thai SS2 and it’s street food offerings from BoboStephanie. Together with another two friends, 6 of us made it for dinner at Go Thai SS2.

I also like how everything is reasonably priced – less than RM 10 for the main dishes and less than RM 5 for the beverages.

Khao Kha Moo (stewed pork leg with rice, RM 9)

The first thing we spotted once we entered the restaurant was the huge mountain of golden pig legs – which have been slow stewed into tender perfection. It was served with white rice, a little bit of stewed kana (Chinese broccoli) and hard boiled egg on the side. Simply good stuff!

Moo Ping (charcoal grilled pork fillet, RM 10)

The meat was deliciously smoky, sweet and tender with a perfect ratio of fat vs lean meat. Even better than those that we tried along the many Bangkok streets.

Som Tum (isan style papaya salad, RM 8)

Go Thai’s version of this famous Thailand’s green papaya salad was bursting with sweet, salty, tangy, and spicy flavors!

Kuay Tiow Nam Sai (in clear pork broth, RM 7)

I really enjoy having this authentic and deliciously nourishing clear Thai broth with big bold pork flavours. Even better when eaten with dashes of fish sauce and Thai chili flakes.

Pad Ga Prow Moo (minced pork with chili and thai holy basil topped with fried egg, RM 9)

It was salty, spicy and mildly sweet but I was expecting somethings more intensely flavorful.

The Tom Yum Seafood (RM 12) was nothing to shout about.
P4181344
Phad Mee Korat (korat version of a Phad Thai, RM 9)

Pad Korat is a fried noodle similar to Pad Thai, except minus a few ingredients like peanuts, tofu and pickled radish. The final product ends up being sweet and  sour.

Iced Milk Tea (RM 4)

We washed it all down with a glass of iced cha yen, my favourite Thai drinks. I will definitely be coming back as the place is legit! Almost everything that we tried were good except for the tom yam soup and Pad Ga Prow Moo.
