LG Makes The Watch Urbane Available Through The Google Store Starting This Month

LG announced the coming of the LG Watch Urbane earlier this year, but at the time they hadn’t mentioned when exactly it would be available for consumers to buy. The Watch Urbane takes what LG has brought to the table of smartwatches with the G Watch and G Watch R and is seeking to add on a layer of class with a finer touch and more refined design. It looks more like a traditional high-end watch than a smartwatch, with the metal case and leather strap that gives it more versatility and allows people to wear it while dressed up or dressed down. Think of it like a more premium version of the LG G Watch R. If you’ve been interested in the LG Watch Urbane but have been waiting on pricing and availability dates, LG has just announced that consumers will be able to get their hands on the watch by the end of this month.

LG has yet to offer any details on pricing, merely that pricing would be available when the device actually launches, and they haven’t mentioned the actual dates for when it launches here in the U.S. They have however stated that it launches in South Korea this week, and will proceed to spread out to 12 other countries in the weeks to come, mentioning that consumers in the UK, the US, Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, France, Ireland, Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain, and India will be able to purchase the watch in the Google Store starting this month. Unfortunately as stated above LG sheds no light on the exact dates. If you need a refresher on what the LG Watch Urbane offers, It’s equipped with a 1.3-inch P-OLED display with 320 x 320 resolution and 245 ppi, and it also runs on Android Wear and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. It has 4GB of onboard emmc storage with 512MB of LPDDR2 RAM, carries a 410mAh battery and comes in two different colors, Silver and Rose Gold. While this is running on Android Wear the LG Watch Urbane will come with two features you won’t find on any other Android Wear device, which are LG Call and LG Pulse.

LG Call isn’t quite like what it sounds, as you can’t actually make calls from the watch with it, it does however allow the wearer to access the recent calls and the favorites contact lists to dial out from the watch. If you don’t have a Bluetooth headset handy, you will still need to talk on the phone during the call. As for LG Pulse, this is LG’s way of measuring your heart rate. Since other Android Wear devices can also measure your heart rate, it isn’t entirely new but LG does take the aspect of the function to a new level which the other watches don’t offer. It measures the heart rate every second during exercise and has no time limit so it keeps recording until you’re done with your workout, after which it calculates your average heart rate and shows you a graph of the results on LG Health which will presumably be available at the time of launch of the LG Watch Urbane.
