Leaks of a Possible Sony Flagship Dubbed The “Xperia P2″ Surface

With the recent announcement of the Sony Xperia Z4, unfortunately for the rest of the world, Sony confirmed the smartphone would be sold exclusively in Japan. Shortly after this announcement many wondered whether a second handset would be announced for a global release. Now, there are reports that Sony may officially confirm this speculation by the end of May. Even better, there are possible leaks surfacing supposedly surrounding this second smartphone out of Sony. A Chinese website published schematics online detailing a device titled the “Sony Xperia P2.” Interestingly enough, the design of the mystery handset appears to be quite different than Sony Xperia phones from the past.

If the leaks are indeed true, then the Sony Xperia P2 may ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit processor under the hood. To compliment this processing power, 3GB of RAM will provide users with an adequate amount of memory for multitasking. The screen is dubbed as a TRILUMINOS Display featuring a 1080p IPS panel clocking in at 5.2 inches. The Sony Xperia P2 will include a reported 32GB storage capacity for a healthy amount of user data. Resting on the backside of the device, the rear-facing camera will be a 12-megapixel shooter. This rear camera contains a Sony 25mm F2 G OSS Lens with an ISO 64-25600 capable of recording video in 4K resolution. The front facing camera will not be nearly as impressive, but will still take great shots with 5.1 megapixels. To power the Sony Xperia P2, a massive 4240 mAh battery s listed as being included.

If the Sony Xperia P2 indeed gets an official confirmation next month, hopefully the leaked specifications are correct. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is still a solid choice for manufacturers despite some press the processor has been receiving in regards to its thermal throttling. With design choices such as a 1080p display combined with an absolutely huge 4240 mAh battery, the battery life could be among the phone’s greatest features. Reviews already give high levels of praise to phones such as the OnePlus One and the Motorola DROID Turbo for having great battery life, and their batteries are much smaller at 3200 and 3900 mAh.
