Google Auto Back Up Photo Stories Now Appearing In Google Now

Google+, which is reported to seeing features becoming more integrated with Google Drive, has the ability to automatically back up photographs downloaded or taken on the device. This software feature can be set up to automatically backup photographs according to a set of rules, these being the size and quality of the image, if these can be backed up over cellular data or WiFi only, and if they can be backed up at any time or only when the device is on charge. Over time, Google have improved the photo backup service by bolting in various functions, such as an automatic enhance service, designed to improve the colors and focus of some images, and Photo Stories, whereby the Google Cloud Service collates a number of pictures based on time and location and collates them into a story, which is presented to users via the Google+ and Google Photos applications. Needless to say, users need to ensure that photographs have the location enabled for the service to properly work, but many Google customers enjoy the results.

The results from the Photo Stories can be a little hit and miss and users need to go into Google+, or have Google+ notifications turned on, in order to receive updates about new Photo Stories but we’re now seeing reports that new Photo Stories are appearing in Google Now as a new card. This further tightens the integration between various Google Services on the Android device and is aligned with one of Google’s visions when it comes to the design of the Android 5.x Lollipop operating system, which is to provide a more seamless interface between applications and operating system.

Google tend to roll out updates to their cloud-based services over a period of time and Photo Stories is not always the most responsive after a trip involving many photographs, so you may not see notifications appearing anytime soon. However, when they do, there’s a good chance that they’ll start to appear as a new Google Now card. If you have been using Google Photo Backup and are yet to see any Photo Stories, you might want to head into your Camera Settings menu to see if the location is stored. And if you don’t use the Photo Backup, you can enable this from within the Google+, Settings or Google Photos, Settings menu options.
