The OneBoard Gives Any Computer An Android Backup

Increasingly, we’re seeing developers create dual-boot systems with Android, because… well, why the heck not? Android’s a useful backup system, and it allows you to keep working even when your computer shuts down. But, of course, you need to have Android pre-loaded in the first place… or, if you’ve got the OneBoard handy, you can just boot it up.

Essentially, the OneBoard is just an Android device that happens to be a keyboard. As a keyboard, it’s… well, it’s a keyboard. It appears to be a fairly nice keyboard, at least, although the mechanical switch fetishists will be slightly annoyed it doesn’t have that hard clack they love so much. It does have Bluetooth, as you might expect, which is how you sync it to your various devices.

The interesting part, of course, is the guts. It’s got a quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. It runs Android 4.4, so it’s perhaps not the most advanced of the Android devices, but hey, it’ll be a good Netflix and Google Docs backup when you need one. There’s even an SD slot backup.

Granted, the OneBoard is kind of silly on the face of it, but if you need to have a backup, or you can just use it as your Bluetooth keyboard until you need the other functions. Or, you know, you could buy it because it’s cool. Let’s face it, for most of us, that’s the deciding factor.
