Certain Samsung devices are already receiving the Android Lollipop update, like the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 in certain regions. The Galaxy Note 4 owners are eagerly awaiting their Lollipop flavor though, and this Korean giant might push that update soon, I’m rather certain the Galaxy line is next in line, particularly the Galaxy Note 4. Along with the Samsung famous phablet, the Galaxy Note Edge might also get the update in the near future, considering that the Galaxy Note Edge also offers the S Pen stylus and sports every Galaxy Note 4’s software trick.
That being said, the beta build of Galaxy Note Edge’s Lollipop update has surfaced on XDA Developers. This is a stock Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop firmware, though keep in mind that it is in beta, as I already mentioned. TouchWiz is running on top of Android 5.0.1 here, of course, and XXU1BOA2 is its build name. This update is currently available for two versions of the Galaxy Note Edge handset, the SM-N915FY (European model) and the SM-N915F.
In case you want to flash this thing on your Galaxy Note Edge device, keep in mind that doing that via Odin won’t trip your Knox counter and void your warranty considering this is an official firmware. Once again though, this is a beta version of the software and you might (and probably will) experience all kinds of bugs with it. For instance, you’ll have to manually set the frequency of the Snapdragon 805 SoC after you flash this build (via third-party app), so if you’re not willing to bother yourself with that or don’t know how to do it, stay away from this update. On the other hand, if you know exactly what you’re doing and are willing to play around with this for a bit, go ahead and let us know how you like this update.
There are a couple of Galaxy Note Edge TouchWiz Android 5.0.1 Lollipop screenshots in the gallery down below, in case you’re wondering how all that looks on the Galaxy Note Edge handset. If you’re not willing to bother yourself with this beta build, hang in tight, the official update is definitely close to being released.
