We’ve reviewed skins from other companies in the past. And now it’s time to review Toast’s new wood cover for the Nexus 6. This is a real wood cover here, and I’ve got the ebony one. This is the first time I’ve used a Toast cover, and I was quite impress with how easy it is to put on. With some phones and some skins, there are all kinds of pieces included that you need to install. With Toast, there’s just the back and the front. That’s it.
It’s very easy to install, but it is not reusable. So you need to be careful when you are installing it on your Nexus 6. You just need to simply line up the cut outs for the camera, motorola logo and microphone hole on the back and then you should be good. Mine is a little messed up, as the microphone hole is a little off, but overall it looks pretty decent. And the front looks amazing. It does have cut outs for the speakers, and other sensors on the front. So it’s pretty easy to put on.
Wood covers aren’t all that popular, although some of the other skin manufacturers are now coming out with their own real wood covers. Toast was first, and it may take them a bit longer to get their covers out the door, but I think it’s worth it. The feel of the real wood covers vs the “fake” wood covers is very noticeable.
With day to day use, the cover did get a bit of dirt and dust under the edges, but I get that same issue with other skins, so I can’t really blame that on Toast. It didn’t start to peel off either, which is definitely a good thing. I’d definitely recommend Toast’s skins if you are looking for a real wood skin. They are available for the Nexus 6 and a slew of other devices.
