With CES right around the corner, you can expect to see plenty of new electronics being announced, especially when it comes to Android phones and devices. A new rumor suggests that we may see a VAIO branded Android smartphone announced at the event, which would be the first major announcement concerning the VAIO brand since Sony sold it to focus on its own mobile division. It’s a pretty interesting turn of events to see Sony potentially competing against a brand that they built up. (although it is worth mentioning that Sony does still own a 5% stake in the VAIO brand)
No solid info on what kind of device we should expect, although the rumor points out that it will feature a 5-inch screen and run some version of Android. It’s also not expected to compete in the high end of the market, but instead be priced more modestly to try and carve out some market share. Hopefully we’ll see more in a few weeks.
