Now before I start going into my review I would like to show you a photo.
I’ve debated showing the before picture because honestly I felt embarrassed.
But then I remembered that most of my readers appreciate honest and transparent reviews.
I hope that this will help either one of you out there who has been dealing with some of the same skin issues I faced.
*My before and after photos were taken under the same sun light condition and same time (i.e. after I woke up hence the swollen eye bag). I am wearing nothing except for my tinted sunscreen in the after photo.
My skin has not been very stable. Sometimes, I woke up with nice, glowing skin and some other days a few big pus filled pimples just decided that it is time for them to come out to play.
Just when I was facing some really bad acne problems, I discovered DRx. I am usually very skeptical on visiting dermatologists or beauty centers. My impression is that most of them are very pushy in getting you to sign for packages without even evaluating your skin condition. However, I remembered seeing how Bobo’s and Audrey’s complexion improve with my own eyes. They are using nothing but DRx’s skin care products!
So with assurance from them; I went for my first consultation with Dr Teh Jia Li in Mid Valley last week. Established in 1999, The DRx Clinic is one of the pioneers to offer a range of non-surgical aesthetic services for the face and neck. They are very reputable in Singapore and in recently, they ventured into Malaysia with two clinics in Plaza Damas and Mid Valley. The new DRx Clinic in Mid Valley is a very bright place, with soft light and very beautiful colors.
I do go for facials occasionally but it was my first time visiting an Aesthetic Physician. I did not know what to expect. Upon registration, Dr Teh examined my skin condition and we discussed about some of my skin concerns. According to her, I have some really active oil glands hence the accumulation of comedone (black heads and white heads), my acne is actually hormonal acne and my pigmentation is also very bad.
Nothing can really escape the expert’s eyes huh? She then proceeded to prescribe me with a set of Derma-Rx products to be included into my daily skincare regime. As you can see, Dr Teh herself is seen with a spotless cream-and-peaches complexion. Soon, you will have complexion like mine, she said. I can’t wait already ☺
I was prescribed with a series of 11 Derma-Rx skin care products (from cleanser to sun-screen) and all these products are customized to my skin condition. To be honest, I think that the pricing is pretty reasonable as most of the products might even cost less than your usual beauty counter skin care products.
Derma-RX skincare products are developed in house, at their own lab. So it is best to use the full range for optimal results.
Pinky, my skin consultation thoroughly explains the products prescribed for me and how to use them.
She has been very patient, explaining each steps in details and even written on a pamphlet for me to refer to.
Last but not least, I collected my Derma-RX skincare products from the dispensary/pharmacy.
The Derma-Rx products work seamlessly in a 3-step system of Priming, Remedying, and Protecting your skin.
Priming: Milk Cleanser, Foaming Cleanser, Toner
Remedy: Comedone Formula, Lightening Cream, Max-C, Hydrator
Protect: Tinted Sunscreen
*The Comedone Formula is Clinic’s star product as it dissolves away comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), and also reduces the appearance of new comedones
I was also given an Anti-Blemish mask that I will be using once a week. It helps to remove excess oil, exfoliates, cleanses pore, clears comedones and helps to control further break-outs and blemishes.
For me, it is a skin transformation process so I know that I am not going to see results overnight. The whole process will take months to completely work, but I love how I can see some differences even just in the first week.
In this picture, I am only wearing a thin layer of BB cream, eye brow pencil and Vaseline for my lips.
I am very happy with the progress so far. My acnes have cleared up; my pigmentations have lightened albeit not a lot. I will continue to document my progress and share it with you guys.
All I want for Christmas is clear, good skin! And I think I’m not too far off!
