It’s the Christmas season and so, of course, there are goofy gadgets galore for your Christmas tree, from pepper lights to ornaments. But, if you want to go really over the top, you’ve got to head to the temple of technological excess, Hammacher Schlemmer, which has pretty much the ultimate ornament: A toy train that runs through your tree.
Runaway Train
It’s fairly simple, if ridiculous in the fact that such a thing exists and you can spend money on it. You simply attach the supports to the trunk of your tree, whether it’s fake or real; one assumes, if you’re dropping eighty bucks on this thing, you can swing getting a real tree. Then, set up the tracks, put the train on it, and feed it four AA batteries. It’ll run around your tree, making whistling noises and calling for passengers, until you either run out of batteries or shut it off in annoyance.
Training Day
True, there’s very little need in your life for such a device… but when has Christmas been about need? Also, let’s face it, if you’re buying anything from America’s high-end gadget store, your needs are taken care of and you’re looking to have a little fun. And that’s hard to argue with when it comes to a Christmas tree train; if you love the holiday, it’s one ornament you won’t regret.
