Does anyone use Zagat for reviews? If you do, then you might be pleased with Google’s latest update of the application as it has taken on some new Material Design UI changes as well as some new filtering options and other features. The service was acquired by Google back in September of 2011, and while the Zagat rating can be held in high esteem if you’re a food establishment, the app has seen its fair share of hard times with people having mixed reviews of the app itself that is available on mobile, although many of them seem to center around the lack of cities where the application works.
Zagat for those who have never used it, is a service that provides users with a way of discovering restaurants, bars, shops, hotels and other top locations around the globe that people enjoy. It can work the same way one might use Yelp, as a means for finding a good place to eat or stay if you’re on vacation. Just like all Google apps or any other app that is updating to the design guidelines of Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Material Design UI is a welcomed change. Alongside the new design change there is also a new way to filter things within the app, as Google states finding your saved items will be a lot easier thanks to ability to filter and sort them. This is great if you use Zagat like I do sometimes which is just to attempt bookmarking places to go when I am out of town.
Google states that there are also changes to the search results, as they have improved the app with better search results and suggestions. Time will tell if that really is the case but it’s good to see Google making an effort to improve the app. Lastly the update also brings in a change to view help articles from within the app. The update seems to have gone live for some but not others, so if you’re a Zagat user check your Play Store my apps section and see if the update is hanging in the list. If not, it should show up at some point between now and the next few days.
