Amazon Now Requires Prime Membership For Seattle Residents Who Want Access To AmazonFresh

With all the ways we can buy things online now, it would only to stand to reason that it would be a matter of time before some of the biggest online merchants(like Amazon)would begin to offer us things that we would normally trudge out to the local store to purchase. Like fresh groceries. Amazon has offered this service, called AmazonFresh, in select cities for a little while now, in which it delivers groceries right to your door just like with all the other items you can buy on their site. If you’re a resident living in Seattle, WA, the main base of operations for Amazon, then AmazonFresh may have just become a little more enticing, (or not depending on how you look at it) which now requires an Amazon Prime membership to use. The good news for those who are already using AmazonFresh is that they have a 6 month period from now where they can still use the service before they are required to sign up for the $99 annual Prime membership.

That’s $99 per year which is the same cost as it is everywhere else you can sign up for Amazon Prime, but the nice thing here is that Seattle residents are saving about $200 where as other cities are required to pay a $299 annual cost for Amazon Prime Fresh which offers same day delivery of fresh groceries and anything else you can order on Amazon. If you didn’t already subscribe to Amazon Prime in the Seattle area, you might be likely to now that you’ll need it to use the Fresh service for grocery delivery, but then again would that be so bad? You get tons more stuff with the Prime membership anyhow, not the least of which is access to free streaming of tons of TV shows and movies, like HBO classics like The Wire for example.

Also, Seattle residents now only need spend a minimum of $50 to get free shipping on all AmazonFresh orders, which used to be set at a $100 price tag. Do you live in an area that supports and offers AmazonFresh? If so have you used it and how do you like it? Do they have a decent amount of grocery item offerings compared to what you might find at a local super market or specialty market? Share your thoughts.
