Samsung and Mophie are announcing some great products today. Verizon also has great news for unlimited data subscribers.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime announced for India

Rumors of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime have been spreading. The device has actually gone on sale in Vietnam, but today it’s going official where it was first expected – India.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime will cost only INR 15,499, which is one hell of a price (about $251 USD). Specs include a 5-inch 960x540p display, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, 8MP/5MP cameras and a 2600 mAh battery.

Opinion: What makes this phone really stand out is that it’s meant to be a “selfie phone”. It sports a 5 MP front-facing camera, which is not very common in the affordable market.

New Samsung Galaxy S5 Mophie Juice Pack has a whopping 3000 mAh battery

Need a new case for the Samsung Galaxy S5? Why not make it an external charger, as well? That’s what you can do with Mophie’s new Samsung Galaxy S5 juice pack.

The Mophie juice pack doubles as a case and a portable charger. It literally charges your device on the go, and this one happens to have a whopping 3000 mAh battery. That is more than the 2850 mAh battery the device itself carries.

Opinion: This accessory can be had for $99.95 from Mophie’s official site. It’s probably more than you have ever paid for a case or portable battery, but the convenience is very well worth it.

Verizon won’t be throttling unlimited data users

It wasn’t a good day for Verizon unlimited data users when Big Red broke news that they would start throttling them. The heaviest unlimited users would see slowdowns when the towers were in high demand, allowing tiered data users to take full advantage of their megabytes.

These changes were to take effect today, but Verizon has just announced there will be no throttles after all. They are now stating they don’t want to harm their users’ experiences and everything will continue working as it always has been.

Opinion: It’s nice to see this happening. We often think Verizon is simply trying to push customers into getting tiered plans. They probably still are, but this is a good gesture, nonetheless.
