We have a series of big news this afternoon. Chrome OS is accomplishing what we thought it would never, new GoPro cameras are out and the Moto 360 received the best update it could get.
Photoshop coming to Chrome OS!
Chromebooks are fast, simple, convenient and affordable, but they don’t offer the functionality “full operating systems” tout. This is often due to hardware limitations, but we all know any program can run in the cloud and be streamed. It would work much like remote desktop, which most computers can handle.
An obvious, and often mentioned example is Photoshop, a program many of us use and often need. We never thought it would come to Chromebooks, as it would need to be streamed. Things have just changed as Google and Adobe announce a partnership in order to release a Chrome OS-friendly version of Photoshop.
The program will be streamed and will work just as well as the normal software. In fact, it will even have Google Drive integration for easy file management. Sadly, it will only be available for education Adobe Creative Cloud subscribers. You will also need to sign up for the beta.
Opinion: If more major software developers jump on board, this will completely change the Chrome OS platform. This is a complete victory, though. Let’s hope this feature leaves beta soon, and more Adobe software starts being included!
New GoPro cameras announced, and the cheapest is only $129!
New GoPro cameras have just arrived and you are in for a treat! Whether you want something powerful or affordable, GoPro has your back with 3 versions: the HERO4 Black, HERO4 Silver and HERO.
The HERO4 costs $499, but comes with 4K video recording at 30 fps and the ability to extract 8.3MP images from your video. There’s also a 12 MP mode with 30fps burst shot. It also supports 2.7K video at 50 fps and 1080p at 120 fps.
Those looking for something powerful yet a bit cheaper can also go for the GoPro HERO4 Silver. It can record 2.7K video at 30 fps, 1080p at 60 fps and 720p at 120 fps. If you want value, though, the GoPro HERO will be your best bet. At only $129 it can handle 1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps.
Opinion: The high-end market may be important for moving forward, but affordability is key for growing. Sometimes it’s smarter to sell more than to get more money for each product. Everyone loves GoPro and they have a name, and now more people can afford it.
Moto 360 update dramatically improves battery life
The Moto 360 may be one of people’s favorite smartwatches, all thanks to its circular design, but it’s definitely not known for its battery life. In fact, people have been complaining about the fact that the smartwatch can’t last a full working day alive.
It seems Motorola was working on this issue all along. The latest update brings the device to firmware KGW42R, and it seems it’s bringing huge improvements to battery life. Users report a 40%-50% increase in battery life after the update.
Opinion: Motorola really needed this victory, and I have to say it came in good time. The New Moto X and Moto G are amazing, the Moto 360 just couldn’t become the black sheep.
