Google Drive for Education enters the market while PayPal and Ebay split up. Meanwhile, LG is expanding its reach in the USA.

Google Drive for Education: free, unlimited cloud storage for all

Google has just announced Drive for Education, a new service that is to offer free, unlimited cloud storage to all non-profit educational institutions and their students.

This marks a new era in education, one in which students need not worry about carrying around piles of paper and books. There are no limits, and files can be up to 5 TB in size. I bet very, very few of you have ever even seen a file that large.

Google is also introducing Vault and Enhanced Auditing, two services that will let you discover and audit files.

Opinion: I guess it’s time to go back to college!

Ebay and PayPal splitting up

It seems Ebay and PayPal will no longer be working under the same headquarters. Ebay has just announced it is splitting up Ebay and PayPal into two different, independent companies.

But why? Ebay seems t believe both sectors can grow much faster and better if they work independently. There seem to be enormous opportunities in front of them, and being together harms more than it could help.

Opinion: The digital world is changing, with companies like Google, Visa, American Express and even Apple jumping into the online currency world. PayPal probably needs to go away from Ebay’s umbrella in order to keep up with this fast-moving industry.

LG G3 coming to US Cellular

US Cellular is one of the biggest prepaid services in the USA, and now subscribers will be able to enjoy LG’s newest smartphone. The LG G3 may not be our very favorite, but it’s still one hell of a smartphone (check out our full review).

Powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM and Android 4.4, this device is among the first to carry a QHD (2560x1440p) display. It will be available starting in October, so get your wallets ready!

Opinion: Do remember you will have to pay full price for the device, and the LG G3 is not cheap! US Cellular is not being direct about their off-contract price, but they do say you can get it in installment plans with a $0 down payment. This should make it easier to purchase the high-end device.
