Google Launches 3 New (And Weird) Ads For Current Pixels

In case you forgot that the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 5 exist. Google has launched some new Made By Google ads about those devices. These came seemingly out of nowhere, as the phones that are being advertised have been on the market for some time. The next generation of Pixel devices are no more than a few months away. These ads were spotted by Phone Arena.

The first of the Made By Google ads boasts 48 hour long battery

Pixel phones have always been great when it comes to software, but the hardware department has a few pitfalls. The Pixel phones have always suffered from mediocre battery life. This is due to Google’s decision to place really small batteries in their phones.

The first ad starts off with a Tik-Tok worthy shot of a raccoon drinking water from a cup. With the rather unsettling audio still playing in the background, the text “A phone that sips battery, not chugs” pops up in the search bar animation.

This is to advertise the “Extreme Battery Saver” feature that the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 5 has. This is your typical advanced battery saver that restricts background apps and functions that would cause the battery to drain faster than normal. Google most likely got the 48 hour figure from testing the mode with minimal settings.

The next ad talks about the Pixels’ security

The next of the Made By Google ads starts off with a poor kid being chased by a large bird of some kind. The audio of the kid’s screams and the parent’s laughter carries through as the text “How to prevent unwanted attacks” pops up in the search bar animation.

This is to advertise the TitanM Security Chip that the Pixel phones use. Google designed this chip and launched it alongside the Pixel 3. The chip analyses the phone’s startup process to see if the software has been manipulated on the lower level.

The last ad reminds you that you can tell someone to go away, nicely

Capping off these Made By Google ads, we see a little girl in a car seat singing “Leave me alone” with every ounce of her heart and soul. Her voice carries through the ad as the text “How to get rid of someone, nicely” pops up in the search bar animation.

This is to advertise the call screening functionality that the Pixels have. Call screening isn’t a new feature at all, but it’s nice to have, regardless. Screening a call will bring the caller directly to voicemail. While they’re leaving their message, you have the ability to listen in on what they’re saying.

With the Pixel 6 not far off, it seems that Google might be trying to make a final push for its current Pixels. If these ads made you want to buy a Pixel, you might want to wait. The next generation of Pixels is soon to launch.
