ZTE’s upcoming Nubia Z9 flagships is one of the most talked about devices in the last couple of months. This handset has been leaking all over the place for quite some time now and on May 6th the company will finally launch it. This device will join the Nubia Z9 Mini and Nubia Z9 Max which have launched recently. Various rumors have been claiming that this handset won’t sport any bezel on the sides, we’ve already seen quite a few images of it and ZTE’s General Manager has also said that this will be the ‘bezel-less’ smartphone.
That being said, we’ve talked about the special functions of the Nubia Z9’s display edges the other day. Basically a rumor surfaced saying that the Nubia Z9’s display edges will offer some sort of special functionality, well, the company’s General Manager basically confirmed that in his last Weibo post. Ni Fei, company’s General Manager, posted a number of images teasing the upcoming features of the Nubia Z9. These features will be called ‘FiT’ which stands for ‘Fringe Interactive Technology’, and you’ll be able to interact with those edges in various ways apparently. For example, if you slide along the edges with two fingers you’ll be able to switch active apps on the screen or make volume / brightness adjustments. We presume that these features will be customizable, which is not confirmed at this moment, but it makes sense. ZTE will presumably allow you to set certain actions to do certain tasks and it would be great if they would allow interaction with third-party applications as well, and they probably will.
The Nubia Z9 will launch on May 6th and we don’t know its specifications just yet. The phone will quite probably sport similar specs as the already released Nubia Z9 Max. The Nubia Z9 is expected to feature a 5.X 1080p or QuadHD display along with 3 or 4GB of RAM. This handset will quite probably be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 430 GPU which ships with that SoC. The camera sensors will quite probably be the same you can find in the Nubia Z9 Mini and Nubia Z9 Max, which means this handset will sport 16 and 8-megapixel sensors on its back and front, respectively. You can also expect this handset to offer premium build, two SIM slots and 4G LTE connectivity.
