We’ve seen some unofficial Lollipop releases for the OnePlus One handset, and many people have been waiting for the official build to arrive. On January 31st we reported that Cyanogen confirmed that the Lollipop 5.0 update for the OnePlus One has entered the Q&A (Quality Assurance and Enhancement) stage, which is basically the last step before they release it. It was just a matter of time before OnePlus releases some sort of a pre-release teaser, and we really didn’t have to wait for long, that just happened.
The company has release the official teaser dubbed “The OnePlus One just got a little sweeter. Coming soon.” via their official YouTube channel. This video is 24 seconds long and it really doesn’t reveal all that much to be honest, it shows the stock look of Android Lollipop and the person who is showing it simply goes to the app drawer, taps settings and quickly shows the proof this is in fact the Lollipop update… oh, and yeah, he fires up the Lollipop Flappy Bird-like game afterwards. This is a teaser after all, so it’s more than appropriate I guess. Either way, this update is due to arrive really soon and I’m sure many of you are eagerly waiting for it to land on your device. In case you’d like to check out this video teaser, I’ve embedded the video for you below this article.
We all know by now that OnePlus and Cyanogen aren’t exactly on best terms at the moment, but Cyanogen did promise they’ll continue supporting the OnePlus handset as they agreed and thus the Lollipop update is on the way. OnePlus will step away from Cyanogen, as the company is already working on their own ROM dubbed “OxygenOS” which will be included in OnePlus One’s successor, which is due to launch in the next couple of months. That being said, will this change keep you away from OnePlus One’s successor, or will you give OnePlus the benefit of the doubt and wait for them to release the OxygenOS in order to see what it has to offer?
