Earlier this year, Samsung put out the Galaxy Alpha, and they brought it to the US a bit later on. It’s basically a mid-range smartphone, but with a high-end build. I really liked the device actually, my only complaint was the battery size. Since then, Samsung has announced two other smartphones in the Galaxy A line, that’s the Galaxy A3 and A5. The Galaxy A3 is a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED Display, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. So not the high-end we usually talk about here at Android Headlines, but for $329.99, it’s not bad if you’re invested in Samsung’s ecosystem like their smartwatches and their App Store.
On the other hand there’s the Galaxy A5. Which has a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. So it’s a bit more high-end then the Galaxy A3. And the more important thing is that it’s only $409.99, which isn’t a bad price at all for this smartphone. Especially when you factor in the price for that AMOLED panel.
Both of these devices are dual-SIM and are available now at Expansys USA. Currently, Expansys USA only has the white models available, although other colors are coming soon and are listed as pre-order right now. These are both LTE devices, so they should, in theory work on T-Mobile and AT&T’s networks as well as other GSM networks throughout the world. Expansys USA does have the supported bands listed on the page, so make sure you check that out before pulling the trigger. We have both models linked down below for those interested.
It’s interesting to see Samsung pushing out the Galaxy A line. I wonder if we’ll now have one line for mid-range and low-end devices, instead of a hundred different names for these things.
