On 30th November, Chinese director Wang Yuelun (王岳伦) shocked many when he announced he and his wife, artist and host Li Xiang (李湘) were divorced. Wang also alluded to the fact that Li was seeing someone new.
The news comes as no surprise since Wang has been caught cheating on his wife several times before. However, as it turns out, their daughter Angela (王诗龄) is also fed up with her father and is a staunch supporter of her mother. No one knows if she approves of Li’s new beau, but netizens are sure they’ve found proof of him!
The entire fiasco began when Wang was photographed with another woman; the third time in four years. This time, the scandal did not die down. Wang added to the uproar when he later announced that he and Li were divorced. In addition to that news, Wang took the opportunity to indirectly reveal that his wife had been cheating on him too.
Netizens were initially sceptical. After all, there hadn’t been any proof of Wang’s allegation. However, after scouring her socials with a fine-tooth comb, netizens think they have found the guy. On 20th September this year, Li posted a video of her and a man in a car. The man’s face is obscured by a sticker, but netizens pointed out that he was wearing a similar outfit to Li. This made fans claim that they were wearing ‘couple outfits’.
After studying the video, fans suspect Li’s new beau is young, and handsome. Most are excited and hope she will reveal him soon. Others pointed out that the outfits are rather formal. This has led some to speculate that the video isn’t any old photo. According to netizens, these may be the outfits they wore to officiate their marriage!
No one is sure if the video was Li’s way of making an official announcement, but their theory seems likely. After all, Wang claimed that they have been divorced since July. However, recent photos show Li still wearing a ring on her finger, signifying she is still married.
In the midst of all this, netizens have been concerned about the couple’s 12-year-old daughter, Angela. After all, she’s basically caught out between both her parents. Some also sympathised with the fact that her father is consistently on the news for the wrong reasons.
Angela herself has not been seen commenting on her father’s scandals. However, sharp-eyed netizens have caught her liking posts about them on Weibo. So far, they have discovered she has liked posts discussing Wang’s recent scandal, and the 2020 incident. Netizens have taken this as Angela’s silent support for her mother while being dissatisfied with her father.
And honestly? Who can blame her?
