Henry Golding Heartbroken Over Rising Suicide Rate In Malaysia

Henry Golding is conquering Hollywood right now, and busy promoting his upcoming action flick “Snake Eyes”, but he still holds Malaysia close to his heart.

Yesterday (Saturday, 3rd July), the 34-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message, specially to those going through a challenging period under the current EMCO lockdown, especially for folks in the Klang Valley.

This is a really tough video to make, but I think it’s really important that I try my best to say something. I know that Malaysia is going through so so much at the moment… One thing that we take for granted is our mental state (and) mental fragility. It’s one of the things that we overlooked all of the time,” he was quoted as saying.

Golding continues, “We’ve lost our jobs, we haven’t seen out friends in ages, we’re cooped up especially in densely populated areas like Kuala Lumpur, or any of the major cities. It’s very restrictive as to who you can see and what you can do… It’s only natural for thoughts to go dark and I wanted to tell everybody is that there are friends out there who are thinking of you. There are people out there who are for you and are worried for your wellbeing.”

That being said, the “Crazy Rich Asians” star wants everyone to think of 3 close friends and loved ones that may need some words of encouragement. Instead of the usual talk, let’s have a heart to heart conversation and let them know that you care. You never what that small gesture could mean for that person.

For anyone who’s going through mental health issues, depression, anxiety, or stress, you can always call the Befrienders hotline as they’re open 24/7.
