
There is NOTHING, & really I mean nothing better than a planned night IN. I’m talking a do nothing, no e-mails, no work, just relaxing night in. Spending time alone with my dogs & chilling on my own terms.
As you know, I’m very specific about this like this. The vibe has to be on point, you know? I’m sure a lot of you are the same way.
When I have a night to myself it’s not just the typical bath, candles, read a magazine deal. I make the whole night an experience because it happens so rarely ( BOO ).
A few Fridays ago I had the house completely to myself & for once, my work to-do list was not too bad. Obviously immediately I thought: OMG I NEED TO DO A POST ON THIS. If you’re running around like a chicken with your head cut off, step back, relax for a night & take a refresher. Your work will actually end up being stronger the next day if you refuel.
It’s such a cop out to claim we have no time, but OH we all do it.
So take a night in for yourself & refer to this post for a couple of easy ways to set the vibe.


Firstly, a mask is always involved. This should come as no surprise because for the last year I’ve become just so committed to the whole mask & eye mask sheets. Every morning the same eye sheets go under my eyes. It’s like an energy mask for your under eyes. With a night in, you can throw on a real deal mask. My favorite mask of life is this one. It just gets the job done. Plus it smells lovely & the color ( pale mint ) is oddly tranquil. The whole mask thing is just an overall refresher. So ya, first things first: throw a mask on. To be real, it says to leave it on for 20 minutes…I’m intense so I keep it on usually for 2 hours. HA!
Once my collagen mask is on I switch gears to my obsession of life right now: AUDIBLE.
Michael & I are so hooked it’s kind of embarrassing. We’re that couple at the airport with headphones on listening to audiobooks ( or podcasts ). Basically you listen to a book on your phone with or without ear phones. On this particular night in I listened to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland ( read by hottie Scarlett Johansson ) because the movie just came out & I wanted to ‘read’ it before watching it. I’m one of those.

So yah, listening to an audiobook is totally part of the experience.
I forgot to mention as all this is going on, I’m for sure ( for SURE ) burning valor on in an oil diffuser. Valor is this amazing oil that is just so relaxing. There’s something about the smell that signals to my brain to CHILL OUT. The oil is also commonly referred to as a ‘chiropractor in a bottle.’ It’s also known to be balancing & empowering…I’ll take it?
A jade roller is nearby after a mask, just roll it on your face downward for 5 minutes straight & let the lymphatic drainage BEGIN. You will pee a lot more but any puffiness will literally disappear, especially after a nourishing, delicious mask.
Some other things going on while I’m listening to a book with a mint green mask on?
Cards ( Solitary, so mindless/therapeutic…my grandpa taught me how to play ), a coloring book ( my cousin’s GF, Sarah got this for me to relieve stress! ) & some Beauty Water ( thanks to the Sakura Life babes! ).

Lastly BUBBLY…because a night in wouldn’t be a night in with a little champagne. Preferably in a chilled glass with a couple of raspberries. Treat yourself! Make yourself feel special. You deserve at least one night a month like this.
If you can’t remember a chill night in like this? DO IT. That’s right just do it. Take a load off. You will be a happier person if you take time for yourself. Honestly I had to learn this the hard way. A chill night like this is good for the soul.
