Hey, Houstonians! Did you know that, between Loop 610 and the Sam Houston Tollway on the west side, Westheimer is called Waterwall Drive?
It’s true!
Well, only if you’re using Apple Maps, that is.
Twitter follower Ed Mullery alerted me to this error in Apple’s iOS Maps app. I also found it in the Maps app in OS X 10.11.2.

Apple Maps took quite a drubbing from critics when it first debuted in iOS 7, with Apple CEO Tim Cook even apologizing for its lack of quality. The software supposedly has improved over the years – it’s apparently is used more than Google Maps on iPhones and iPads – but not for those users puzzled over the renaming of Westheimer to Waterwall Drive.
I’ve filed a issue report with Apple through the iOS app. You can, too: Find Waterwall Drive on Maps, tap the Info icon in the lower right corner of the screen, then tap Report an Issue.
Maybe if enough Houstonians complain, we can get an apology from Tim, too!
