Ten years is a long time. Sometimes it is so long that one forgets a lot more than one remembers — so we deserve a little celebrationfor memories’ sake. On the 12th of December 2015, we threw ourselves a birthday bash at Fresca Mexican Kitchen, Avenue K. We had so much fun hanging out and playing games with 40 of our readers! We are also happy to say that #kbcgis10 birthday bash was a great success!

Checking In
The theme of the day is “travel”, so we made sure that everyone “Checked-In” to KBCG airline.
We also threw a small contest on Facebook & Instagram where selected readers were invited to the birthday bash. We really do hope that we can host everyone next time. The boarding passes were issued to our invited readers prior to the event.

This is your captain speaking. Welcome on board to KBCG airline. Food will be served in about twenty minutes time, and the inflight “games” will begin shortly after that. Until then, sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the flight.

Travel Inspired Decor
Since we live for the thrill of adventure, and we’re constantly dreaming of new places to visit, it is only right for us to incorporate a travel theme into our birthday bash.
With some DIY touches, a few globes and a map or two here and there – I think we did a not bad job?
We use Foret Blanc‘s cake as centerpiece along with some paper planes and travel quotes. This cake incorporates both globe with various destination pinned onto the cake and also a fondant suitcase. It is a pretty incredible stacked piece of art! I love the meticulous attention of details; such as the map on the globe, small little buckles and handles on the luggage.

Thank You Speech
The event started soon after and we gave out a thank you speech. Here’s the scripted version:
Hello everyone and thank you for joining us as we reminisce about a humble story that began a little over 10 years ago. It all started with Terengganu’s keropok lekor, a simple delicacy that the boy from kampung is eager to introduce to the city girl. From there, we started to record our food adventures, and eventually travel adventures, different stages of our lives such as graduation, getting married and moving into a new home in this humble little blog. You guys literally grew up with us!
It means so much that you have traveled from all over to make it here today to share memories with us. 10 years of doing anything is a long time, and 10 years of passionate blogging is really quite remarkable. We hope to see you guys at our 20th anniversary party next.
Of course what came out from our mouths is completely different. We were so nervous!
Ice Breaking Game
The Telephone Game is familiar to many people, as it has been around for years. We prepared a few long sentences (copied from movies scripts), the first person in the line will whisper a word or phrase into the ear of the person sitting to their right. The game continues until he last player says the word or phrase out loud so everyone can hear how much it has changed from the first whisper at the beginning of the circle or line.
I think everyone warmed-up a little and feel more relaxed towards the end of the game!
Lucky Draw
We had two rounds of lucky draw and we gave up 12 food vouchers!

Food & Beverages
As a food blogger, we need to make sure that food is good throughout the birthday bash!
Fortunately, Fresca Mexican Kitchen is kind enough to sponsor us the venue as well as some authentic and delicious Tex-Mex bites that pack a punch in terms of flavours.
We went around asking our readers and followers if they love the food, all of them said “YES”! It was quite a proud moment for us, because aparts from giving good food recommendations, we also host parties with great food. Thank you so much Fresca KL! They do have another outlet in Mid Valley Gardens, serving the same Tex-Mex flavours.
Great food must come with great booze right? I love Strongbow as always, the refreshing ciders has a crisp and accessible taste with a subtle sweet ending. It is a great drink for everyone. Thank you so much Strongbow Malaysia!

Game 1: Blind Tasting
There’s no free lunch in this world! We were giving out a 2D1N staycation in a Deluxe Room, Westin KL, inclusive of their signature SuperFoodsRx™ buffet breakfast for two in The Living Room. I’m so jealous can??!!
The contestants will need to go through a series of blind tasting tests and the person who can accurately list down 3 ingredients in each dish will win!

Game 2: Paper Plane Toss
Our grand prize of the day is a 2D1N staycation in an Executive Room in Double Tree by Hilton KL, inclusive of a buffet breakfast for two. I’m green with envy already!
Three buckets were being lined up. The one closest with the contestants is marked with 10 points, and the furthest one is marked with 30 points.
Each pair of the contestant was given a 30 seconds time frame, and they need to throw in as many paper planes into the buckets as possible. The pair with highest accumulated points shall win. 
It was such a close call!! Most of them were really good at it.

Best Dressed
