Android 6.0 Marshmallow was officially announced last month, so we have been reporting whenever manufacturers confirm the devices that will get this update. Following the tradition, Nexus devices were the first ones to get updated to the latest version of the operating system. HTC was the first manufacturer to publish a list of devices that would get updated, followed by Motorola and Sony. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed which of their devices are getting the update, insiders gave some information about what to expect. LG hasn’t confirmed any devices, but there are some rumors suggesting that the company could start rolling out the update really soon.
Now it’s the turn of the highly successful Chinese manufacturer Huawei to confirm which of their handsets are getting Android Marshmallow. It is important to note that these list includes the Chinese versions of their phones, so it could give us an idea of what to expect for the international variants, but this is yet to be confirmed. Additionally, the list might change over time. The list includes flagship models like the P8, P8 youth edition, P8 Max and the Mate S that were released this year and the Mate 7 that was released last year. Some mid-rangers like the Maimang 4 (Chinese variant of the G8), G7 and the G7 Plus are also listed. From their Honor series, the Honor 7, Honor 7i, and the Honor 4C that were released this year are included in the list as well as the Honor 6 Plus, Honor 6, Honor X2, Honor MediaPad X2, Honor 4X and the Honor 4C that were released last year.
The company is said to start customizing the OS to shape up the EMUI running on the listed devices in November, but there is no timeframe for when the update will start rolling out. Other companies have scheduled it at the end of 2015 or at early 2016, so this might be the case here too. The UI changes have not been mentioned, but since this version doesn’t include many visual changes but has many improvements under the hood, the same might happen with this UI. Let’s remember that some changes brought by Marshmallow were not even announced but they have been discovered along the road.
