Samsung Is Testing Its 18.4-inch Tablet With Some Operators

Sales on the tablet market have been declining lately, the reason seems to be that consumers don’t see a reason to change their current device for a newer model as they don’t offer significant improvements over the past generation. Another possibility is that the screens on smartphones are becoming larger, so users seem to favor portability over a larger format. Still, tablets seem to be here to stay, so manufacturers need to change their strategies or offer more options to keep selling tablets. Samsung has released some great options and their Galaxy Tab S series, now with its second generation tablets, includes some of the most powerful tablets out there. The new tablets even changed the aspect ratio on their screens, making them more comfortable to read documents and websites. They also include more metallic elements to interest those who want a premium experience.

There have been a few rumors that Samsung might release a huge tablet with an 18.4-inch display and today it has been reported that the company has sent this tablet to some operators from South Korea so that they could test it. The telecom operators include SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ and if the company is indeed testing this device, some more operators might get it as well, particularly as the report suggest that the production of this tablet will begin in the last quarter of the year. As for the use of such a large device, the company wants users to keep it in their living rooms, maybe it could be useful for education purposes or it may come in handy with presentations of business users.

The tablet is codenamed Tahoe and carries the model number SM-T760. Some of its specs include an 18.4-inch Full HD display and sadly, it won’t use AMOLED technology as the Tab S series. The octa-core Exynos 7580 processor along with 2 GB of RAM will power the device and make multitasking work. There are 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with Micro SD cards. The battery has a capacity of 5,700 mAh and its dimensions are 451.8 x 275.8 x 119 mm.
