Meizu has had quite a successful year thus far. The company has managed to sell 8.9 million smartphones in the first half of the year, and increase their sales 540% compared to the same period last year. Meizu has released a number of compelling smartphones this year, and the most powerful one is definitely the Meizu MX5, the company’s flagship for this year. The Meizu MX5 Pro was also expected to launch later this year, but it seems like the company has cancelled the whole ‘MX Pro’ line of devices, and it will focus on creating a new premium handset which is expected to arrive in Q1 2016 (if not sooner).
That being said, we’ve seen this handset (Meizu ME5) rumored earlier today. A rumor which arrived from China shared quite a few spec details when it comes to this device, including the fact that it will be powered by MediaTek’s Heliox X20 64-bit deca-core SoC. Well, that rumor might not be that accurate considering the fact that a new Meizu-branded device paid a visit to AnTuTu recently, and according to that benchmarking site, the phone definitely doesn’t run Helio X20. Anyhow, let’s see what AnTuTu listing says, shall we.
Meizu ‘NIUX’ popped up on AnTuTu, and judging by its specs, this will definitely be a high-end offering by the company. The phone features a 1080p (1920 x 1080) display (we still don’t know its size), and is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 14nm 64-bit octa-core SoC along with a Mali-T760 GPU for graphics. The phone will also sport 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage according to this listing, and Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Meizu’s Flyme OS available on top of Google’s operating system. The 21-megapixel shooter will be available on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be located up front.
Interestingly enough, this is supposed to be the lower-end variant of the ‘NIUX’ handset, the higher-end variant will quite probably ship with 4GB of RAM and at least 64GB of internal storage, while the QHD display is also a possibility. Anyhow, the handset we talked about in this article actually managed to score 69,000 points on AnTuTu, which is quite impressive, and goes hand-in-hand with Galaxy S6’s results. There you have it, we’ll report back when new info pops up, stay tuned.
