Short Video Gives Brief Look At Sony Xperia Z5 Models

Sony usually shows off new products at IFA on an annual basis, and this year they’re expected to be showing off the highly anticipated Sony Xperia Z5 range of smartphones as a successor to the recently released Xperia Z4 (in Japan) and Xperia Z3+ (elsewhere). Rumors suggest that Sony will be launching not only the Xperia Z5, but three models total including a smaller variant called the Xperia Z5 Compact, as well as a larger variant of the device called the Xperia Z5 Premium that comes with a bigger 5.5-inch display. Although there’s been nothing confirmed just yet there have been a few leaks here and there which seem to show off pieces of the device, the most recent being a leaked video which has surfaced today that seems to briefly show off the phone powered on and being used.

The device in question is certainly running Lollipop as you can see the Sony-styled Lollipop navigation buttons, and you can barely see what looks like buttons placed lower on the right edge of the device compared to previous models where the buttons have sat a little higher. If you look closely at what looks like a second model of the phone sitting on the table while they’re showing off the first, it appears to come in one of the suspected colors that’s been rumored for the Xperia Z5: a sort of dark turquoise color.

Eagle-eyed viewers may also be able to notice what kind of looks like the rumored fingerprint sensor on the right side of the device sitting in the middle where Sony usually places the power button, and although the video is not clear enough resolution to make it out this is potentially what’s being seen. This has also been stated in the rumors as to why Sony decided to place the power button and volume rocker further down the right side, to make room for the fingerprint sensor. From earlier leaks the Sony Xperia Z5 should be coming with a 23MP rear-facing camera which is a step up from the usual 20.7MP camera on previous devices, and each variant of the new model will come with Sony’s signature waterproof and dustproof features. For a brief second or two in the beginning of the video you also get a quick look at what seems to be a gold model of the phone, while the one being shown off is a black model. These are likely going to be three of the available colors for the device, although it isn’t known if all three phones in the video are all the original Xperia Z5 variant.
