In the latest “Teens React” video series on YouTube, clueless young gamers tackle a Tiger handheld game that’s definitely “not like Madden.” Bo Jackson Football was one of the many games in the Tiger Handheld line, which also included Bo Jackson Baseball. In fact, the former football and baseball player had several games to his name, including Bo Jackson’s Hit and Run for the original Game Boy, which coincidentally has also made it to the “React” series.
Below is the video, and it’s hilarious:
A little bit on Tiger handheld games: the company was founded by Randy, Gerald, and Arnold Rissman, and originally manufactured low-tech electronics like phonographs. Tiger Electronic ultimately shifted to electronic toys, including Electronic Bowling, which was a major hit for the company. Tiger handheld games later included adaptations of popular licenses such as Spider-Man, RoboCop, Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Batman, and countless more. For many gamers of a certain generations — the late 80s and early 90s — Tiger handheld games were their introduction to gaming. It helped that they featured big licenses and were relatively cheap when compared to the Game Boy, Nintendo Entertainment System, and Sega Genesis.
My favorite part of the video game above is when the unknowing teens are handed a Full House tiger handheld game. The video host is right: some of these just didn’t make sense.
