Judging by a statement that The Verge received from T-Mobile US, it looks like the Sony Xperia Z3 (D6616) Android Lollipop update may still be a long way out. The statement says that T-Mobile is “hoping” to roll the update in the “upcoming months”. Ouch.
T-Mobile also gave a bit of extra colour regarding the Xperia Z3’s brief sales hiatus and subsequent reappearance. Rather than it being an issue of demand, T-Mobile said that stock was temporarily removed as it “waited to receive additional inventory from Sony.” Check out both statements below.
T-Mobile statement on Xperia Z3 Lollipop plans
“We’re working very hard on the Xperia Z3 Lollipop update for T-Mobile customers – and to ensure customers get the best possible experience with this update. We’re hoping to roll it out in upcoming months and will share more details as they’re available.”
T-Mobile statement on temporary Xperia Z3 sales suspension
“We work closely with phone manufacturers, including Sony, to continually adjust our device portfolio based on supply and customer demand. As a result of this, sales of the Xperia Z3 were temporarily suspended while we waited to receive additional inventory from Sony to support taking orders. We’ve since resumed online sales at T-Mobile.com and expect to have the phone back in stores by the end of the week.”
