Nubia Z9’s ‘Fringe Interactive Technology’ In Action, Check Out These Animated GIFs

ZTE has announced the Nubia Z9 Max and Nubia Z9 Mini handsets last month, but the company still has to unveil the Nubia Z9. This handset has been rumored and leaked like crazy over the last couple of months, and this China-based company has confirmed that it will be announced on May 6, which is only five days away. As that date is coming closer we’re seeing more and more leaks of the device itself. What do we know thus far? Well, a lot actually. The company’s General Manager has confirmed that the device will be ‘bezel-less’ and that it will sport special functions. The phone will basically offer some additional functions if you use the edge on the display, this technology is called ‘FiT’, which stands for ‘Fringe Interactive Technology’.

Speaking of ‘FiT’, we have some new content to share with you today. A new leak in China actually shows us how ‘FiT’ is going to work. If you take a look at the two animated .gif images below this article, you’ll get a good idea what ‘FiT’ is. These are basically side screen controls for your smartphone which will rely on various swipes and commands in order to launch certain app or function on the phone. ZTE will release API for ‘FiT’ to developers, so you can expect all sorts of interesting stuff to hit this phone in time. You’ll, of course, be able to customize those commands yourself on the phone itself once it launches, at least according to the info that’s available at the moment.

The Nubia Z9 will sport premium design all around and is dubbed the true bezel-less handset. This phone will feature a metal frame, and won’t have any bezel on the sides, only the frame will be visible. That metal frame will be placed between two pieces of glass which will be located on both the phone’s front and back sides. This handset was also certified by TENAA recently, but those specs seem way off in terms of RAM and SoC. According to TENAA’s certification, Nubia Z9 will offer 8GB of RAM and an octa-core SoC clocked at 3.5GHz, which is unrealistic. The phone will quite probably be powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 2.5GHz and sport with either 3 or 4GB of RAM. You can also expect 16 and 8-megapixel cameras to be a part of this package, and the phone will ship with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop pre-installed.
