We use a lot of hot water in any given day, and if you think about it, a lot of it is wasted. Especially for those of us who have to get a whole kettle boiling to make tea. The Miito, though, is designed to allow tea-drinkers and those who need only a small amount of hot water to just heat it up without having to spend too much energy.
Induced Heat
It’s actually pretty simple. You plug in the base, which takes a standard outlet. When you need some boiling water in a mug, or a pot, or any number of vessels that don’t conduct electricity, you just put in a special rod. The induction burner kicks in and heats up the water, quickly boiling it.
Not only are you using less energy, you’re also giving yourself just the hot water you need. More to the point, you don’t have a kettle to clean the lime-scaling off of, just a rod. Sure, it won’t clean the mug, but that’s what we’ve got a dishwasher for.
Hot Water
Yes, you should save the environment. We should all do our part, and not waste our valuable resources. But, more than anything else, I have to admit, this scratches my deep-seated nerd urge for efficiency. The ability to only heat the water I absolutely need scratches an itch I didn’t know I have. Whether that’s worth $100 is an open question, but the efficiency is undeniable.
