Android How To: Remove Geolocation from Photos on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

One of the cool things about having an amazing camera on our smartphones, is the fact that you can take pictures and tag their locations, and even upload them to Google Maps. However, there are some people out there who don’t want their location attached to every photo they take on their phone. Which is completely understandable. Luckily, there’s a way to turn that feature off on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Which is great. Today, we’re going to show you how to do that exactly. You can turn off the feature, as well as delete location data from pictures you’ve already taken.

Turn On/Off Geolocation in the Camera App

If you jump into the camera app, tap on the gear icon on the left side of the row of features there. You’ll be taken into the settings. About halfway down, you’ll see an option that says “Location Tags” Just hit the slider to turn it off. It’s really just that simple. There are some other cool features in there that you can turn on or off as you please as well.

Delete Geolocation data from Existing Photos

Did you take a photo before you realized location was being saved? No problem, you can still get rid of the location data pretty easily. Simply go into the Gallery app, find the picture you want to remove the geolocation data from. Now tap on the “MORE” up in the right hand corner. Next tap on “Details”. There you will see the details of the photo including the data, location and properties. In the upper right-hand corner you should see the “EDIT” option. Tap on that. Now in the location area you should see a circle with a line through it. Just tap on that then hit save, and you’re all set.
