Oppo R7 handset has been leaking all over the place for weeks now, we’ve not only seen a ton of images showcasing this device, but a number of videos as well. The design of this handset was rather consistent until rather odd renders surfaced a couple of days ago showing us an Oppo-branded device with a physical home button below the display. More or less everyone thought this is some sort of the Oppo R7 variant or something, but it seems that’s not the case, read on.
We managed to get some official information from Oppo and the company has more or less confirmed the design of their upcoming handset. Oppo has provided us with some renders of the device and it seems like the variant with the physical home button is the real deal, at least in China. It is possible that the company will announce additional models of this handset (the rumored R7 Plus perhaps), but Oppo did not elaborate on that. As you can see, the Oppo R7 is incredibly slim, as was its predecessor, the Oppo R5 which launched at the end of last year and was the thinnest smartphone in the world at that time (measuring 4.85mm). The company has also confirmed that the camera on the back of Oppo R7 will not protrude, which is really commendable considering how thin this device is. The device will also use Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charge technology and a 2.5D curved glass on top of Oppo R7’s display. The Oppo R7 will sport metallic frame and a premium build overall. It seems glass will be placed on the back of the handset as well, at least judging by the provided renders.
The company did not provide any spec information this time around, but according to previous rumors, this device might be powered by MediaTek’s MT6795 64-bit octa-core SoC and sport a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back. Oppo has confirmed earlier today that this handset will launch in May, though the did not specify the exact date of its announcement, stay tuned.
