Speculation and rumors prior to a device launch is nothing new. It happens on a routine basis and all manufacturers suffer from the issue. Although, ‘suffer’ is used in a very loose term as the rumors and speculations often go a long way to helping to build excitement further about a device. A prime example of the benefits of pre-launch hype were seen at the start of March when Samsung launched their S6 duo, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. That said, the other side of the coin, the disadvantage with hype was also noted on the same day when HTC launched their One M9.
Well, the next device due to see their fair share of speculation and rumors either confirmed or disproved is LG’s newest, the LG G4. This is the latest flagship of the popular G series and as such, many potential customers will be eager to pick up this device when it arrives, after its launch event which takes place tomorrow. That said, few devices have been leaked as extensively as the G4 was a couple of weeks ago, when a massive leakage occurred including multiple images of the device. Well, in spite of the rumored specs which are said to include a 5.5-inch display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It is also likely that G4 will come touting either 3 or 4GB RAM and powered by either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor or the now-infamous Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor.
That said, one of the aspects which has yet to be properly confirmed is where the device will sit in terms of price within the market. This is a flagship device and as such it would be expected to be up towards the higher end of the pricing scale. Of course, how high will be what could determine whether the device will be successful or not. Interestingly, a report emerged a few days ago detailing that the price will possibly come in between the current price of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge (which currently sees a $100 difference). Well, the latest on this point is that it now seems as though the G4 might come in cheaper than the Galaxy S6. However, if it does, it will only come in slightly cheaper. German news site, WinFuture has managed to find German retailers who are already displaying the G4 price (which is not unusual so close to a device launch) and those prices suggest the G4 will start around the €680-690 marker. This effectively sees the G4 undercutting the S6 in the same markets by about €10-20. Of course, this price will only be relative to the base model and those wanting the leather-backed options (which have so frequently been seen in recent images) will have to pay a higher price.
