We finally have some solid information on the upcoming GE, LG’s Android flagship smartphone that needs to be competitive against the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6, and other major phones on the market. The leaks have at last been replaced with official LG announcements.
According to the company, the LG G4 is avoiding the phablet phase of many new phones, sticking with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display that features a soft curve. Inside, however, the G4 is moreabout power. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of DDR3 RAM (compare this with the iPhone 6 and its 1GB of RAM). There’s 32 GB of eMMC flash memory, but the phone also includes support for microSDs.
The UX has also been updated with plenty of various shortcuts. This includes a Quick Shot feature that lets people snap photos instantly even with the display off, and an Event Pocket app that uses a drag-and-drop features to create a single calendar that multiple social media and email calendars can feed into. Smart Notice, on a less comfortable note, will analyze your phone habits and create personalized messages based on what it thinks you are doing.
For cameras, the G4 will offer a 16-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera in the front, plus a full suite of filter options and adjustments. Other extras include NFC and wireless charging support.
However, what may sway the most Western consumers over to the LG G4 is its updated style. This phone with a premium leather back available in six different colors, although you can also choose black, gold, and white ceramic components if leather isn’t your thing. It certainly helps the phone stand out against rivals – as does the smaller form, which may appeal to consumers who dislike the ever-larger phone phenomenon.
According to the LG press release and event, the phone will be available in South Korea on April 29, and in other markets…before long. It’ll be $200 in the U.S. if you opt for a 2-year contract, and around $600 to $800 otherwise.
