Sony Mobile Japan has unveiled a new model this morning called the Xperia J1 Compact (D5788). It is the company’s first model to launch unlocked in the country, allowing users to use it with a service of their choice such as So-net. Pre-orders start on 27 March for 54,800 yen + tax, with the phone expected to launch on 20 April 2015.
The Xperia J1 Compact is similar in specifications to the Xperia A2 (for NTT DoCoMo) with a 4.3-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) chipset with 2.2GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 330 graphics. It has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 20.7MP Exmor RS rear camera, 2300mAh battery and IP68 certification for dust/water resistance.
