Swatch Introduces A Wearable With Beach Volleyball In Mind Called The Touch Zero One

Version1

With many of the world’s biggest companies in technology and mobile designing and launching their own smartwatches, it’s only natural to start seeing companies that have long been making actual watches get into the market alongside them. Swatch isn’t the first company to do this, however they are the most recent we’ve heard about thus far as they’re introducing their new Touch Zero One smartwatch today. According to the press release this Swatch was designed with Beach Volleyball in mind, so they seem to be catering to the active crowd rather than the tech enthusiasts.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to call this device a wearable, as it seems to be more focused on providing individuals who play Beach Volleyball with stats and data that is collected during a match instead of providing users with watch like functions that are enhanced by technological functions. The Swatch Touch Zero One is capable of tracking and recording the power of a player’s smash, a relatively useful way for players to potentially improve on their game. It also measures the power of your claps, or rather how much you clap, which we could only assume is geared towards individuals who may be watching the game or perhaps other players who are rooting for their teammates. It also has a built in step counter which is something you see in many other wearables.

In addition to the other features it tracks distance traveled, calories burned during activities, and of course it’ll pair up with smartphones via Bluetooth. Once paired, users can choose what Swatch is calling a virtual coach and set goals for all the things the Touch Zero One is capable of measuring while easily keeping track of all the data collected. Swatch states that it’s using a standard Swatch battery on the inside so users can presumably expect long battery life, and according to Swatch the battery will last for months at a time. It’s also water proof so users needn’t worry about whether or not it gets wet at the beach. Swatch doesn’t mention when exactly the Touch Zero One will be available or how much it will cost, but they do state it’s an improved version of the already popular Swatch Touch, so one need only look to the original to get an idea of what the Touch Zero One might cost upon launch.
