Now that Samsung’s Unpacked 2015 event is officially over, we have seen some new reveals with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge, as well as a new Gear VR to work with both of those new devices. There have been some notable improvements in the new flagships from Samsung this year, but what many people are likely wondering is where they’ll be able to pick up these new devices and when. Samsung has stated that the phone will be available in 20 countries at launch, which includes the U.S. of course, and that the launch will start from April 10th. So now that we know the devices will both be available from April 10th, let’s talk about where customers can buy one.
U.S. residents will be able to pick up the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S Edge at all four major U.S. carriers, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and AT&T as well as U.S. Cellular. Some of the smaller carriers like the MVNO’s for example, Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless and Metro PCS, will only be carrying the Galaxy S6 at launch. There was no mention at this point in time if the Galaxy S Edge will be coming to those carriers, but it wasn’t stated that they wouldn’t be getting them either, so for now the availability of the Galaxy S Edge on those smaller carriers is simply uncertain. Samsung also didn’t list if all the carriers will be releasing these devices on the first day of launch, but we can probably expect that to be the case when it comes to the major carriers.
If you’re an online shopper, or you don’t pick up your phones specifically from retail carrier stores, Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S Edge in other retail outlets like Sam’s Club stores, Costco, Target, WalMart and Best Buy, as well as online merchant Amazon so you should be able to find them there too, although again, there’s no certainty at this point in time if they’ll be available on the stated launch date of April 10th, however those details as well as specific pricing will be announced at a later date.
