Flipkart, one of India’s biggest retailers, has teased the launch of Motorola Droid Turbo back in February. The retailer has announced that the phone is available for pre-order earlier this month, and Motorola’s handset is not available for purchase as well. The phone is in stock, and as long as you live in India you can purchase it. This handset is called “Moto Turbo” in India, not “Droid Turbo” or “Moto Maxx” as it’s known is the U.S. and Latin America, respectively. This handset was originally launched back in October 2014, and the company has now made it available in India after partnering up with Flipkart.
The Moto Turbo sports a 5.2-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The 32GB variant is available in other markets, but you’ll be able to get only the 64GB variant in India. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz is powering on this device, and ships with an Adreno 420 GPU. 21-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device and is flanked by a dual-LED flash, while there’s a 2-megapixel snapper available up front. A big, 3,900mAh non-removable battery ships with this device, and Android 5.0 Lollipop is pre-installed here with a few Motorola-made apps on top of Google’s OS. This is a single SIM handset and it supports LTE Band 3 in India, in case you were wondering. The phone comes with water-repellent nanocoating, measures 143.5 x 73.3 x 8.3 – 11.2mm and weighs 169 grams.
That being said, only the Black Ballistic Nylon variant of this device is available in India. In case you’re interested in getting this handset, you’ll have to splash out Rs. 41,999 ($670), which is quite a high price point. You have to keep in mind that this is a high-end device in every shape and form, and it has a lot to offer. There are a lot of high-end offerings in India at this point though, it will be interesting to see if Motorola can go head-to-head with some more popular brands in that Asian country.
