Meizu has released a lot of appealing devices last year, and many would argue that the Meizu MX4 Pro is the best amongst them. This is the company’s current flagship handset, and the company has launched it back in November last year. The Meizu MX4 Pro originally shipped with Android 4.4.4 KitKat and the company’s proprietary Flyme 4 UI on top of Google’s operating system. Meizu has confirmed that they’re working on updating Flyme to Lollipop in November last year, and a couple of days ago we’ve seen a leaked Meizu MX4 Pro running the Android Lollipop 5.0.2. That being said, the company has released the update, but only to beta testers I’m afraid.
We basically knew that this was going to happen, but some people have been hoping that Meizu will push its final version out before the end of March (which could still happen, but it’s somewhat unlikely now). The Flyme 5.0 ROM has been released for the MX4 Pro, but only to Meizu’s beta testers, which are called “Panda Knights”. These are still great news for MX4 Pro users though, because this also means that the update will reach its official release really soon, perhaps not in the coming days, but April might be a safe bet. If you’re interested in finding out more details about the update itself, and would like to become Meizu’s beta tester (apply for the position), follow the source link down below. Keep in mind that the source is in Chinese, and considering this is a Chinese domain we’re talking about here, we’re not sure if Meizu is looking for beta testers outside of China at this point.
The company has also mentioned that the Android Lollipop update will reach Meizu MX4 soon as well, but we don’t have any information as far as that goes at this point unfortunately. The company has mentioned only the MX4 Pro here, but the MX4 will probably follow soon. There you have it, the Android Lollipop-powered Flyme 5 will land soon, and by the looks of it, we’re talking about Android 5.0.2 Lollipop here. Either way, we’ll let you know when we get more information.
